Meter replacement will continue for the next several weeks. Utility Solutions of America (USA), a utility contractor for the City of Madison, is working across the City replacing and upgrading water meters. When the contractors come to your home or business they will knock on your door to let you know what they are doing and make you aware that your water service will be interrupted for a short period of time, usually less than 30 minutes.
After replacing your water meter, the contractor employee will flush your water line through an outdoor line to make sure no discolored water remains within your service line. The old meters will remain in the yard to be picked-up later. USA’s employees will have identification cards and will answer any questions you may have about their work.
Water customers may see an increase in water usage and amount billed on the February utility bill due to extended service days. Since water meters are being replaced throughout the month, your bill may cover more than the normal 30 days. Billing will return to the normal 30-day billing cycle in March.
